From History of Allegheny County, Pennsylvania:
Robert C. Rankin, attorney, was born in Elizabeth township, Allegheny county, September 25, 1854, a son of Samuel C. and Rebecca (Williamson) Rankin.Rebecca, was a daughter of Samuel and Martha (McCombs) Williamson, of Washington county.
By her he (Samuel C.) had five children: Robert C, John W., Mary, Samuel H. and Maggie.
Mr. Rankin married, in 1853, Rebecca, daughter of Samuel and Martha Williamson, of Elizabeth township, and by her has had five children: Robert C, an attorney in McKeesport, engaged in the practice of his profession; John W., Mary M., Samuel H. and Maggie J.
