James and Cynthia lived on Rockcastle, Lawrence County Kentucky until after 1843, then they moved to Tazewell County Virginia, where Nancy was born as stated on her marriage and census records. They returned to Lawrence County and bought a farm on Donothan, A branch two miles below the mouth of Rockcastle. They migrated later to the Cabwaylingo section of Wayne County West Virginia where a number of their children married.
