Mary Williamson was born in about 1772 in Lancashire. (According to the 1841 census she was born in 1772-1776, according to her death registration she was born in about 1772). Her parents are currently unknown, but she had two probable sisters, Sarah (Williamson) Surman (abt.1771-) and Hannah (Williamson) Leather (abt.1782-).
Mary married Paul Findley on 9 Feb 1794 at Rainford Chapel of Ease in the parish of Prescot, Lancashire. Both were of the local parish, and neither had been married before; Paul was a stone mason. The witnesses were Thomas Fiendley and Peter Birchall.
By June 6th 1841, Paul and Mary were living in Thatto Heath, Eccleston with eight or nine members of Mary's extended family. Paul was of independent means. The family members were Mary's sister Sarah; Thomas and Ellen Woods and their sons William and Joseph (Sarah's probable daughter Ellen and her family); and James and Benjamin Fenney (Ellen's sons by her first husband). The possible family member was Margaret Rooks, who may have been Margaret Rourke, the daughter of Sarah's stepdaughter Esther (Surman) Rourke.
Mary died in 1849, aged 77.
