Biography

Note: Sent to live with his Uncle Arthur Fort Williamson in Alabama when his mother died. He fought in the Civil War in Company D, 5th Texas Infantry. His cousin Robert Micajah Powell started the war as commander of Company D but rose to command the 5th Texas and, ultimately, what was left of Hood's Brigade at the end of the war. Peter was wounded at Gettysburg and died of his wounds in a Federal hospital. He is listed as Peter G. Williamson in the muster roster of D Company. Per the Baylor University Directory , he attended Baylor in Independence, Texas from 1852-1857. See his brother Jack's biography for more detail.
