William was born in 1824 in Lawrence County, Arkansas.
William would marry twice in his life. First, on May 27, 1849, he would marry Melinda Kellett from Arkansas. They would have two children:

Malinda died in around 1851.
William married his second wife, Adaline Davis, on December 20, 1852. Together, William and Adaline would have two daughters as follows:

Nancy P. (Williford) Baird (1866–1942)
William owned property in the northeast corner of Arkansas in what is Sharp County. There is today a small village that sits on that property. The village is named in William's honor, Williford, Arkansas.
William died in 1882 and is buried in the Williford Cemetery in Sharp County, Arkansas, along with Adaline.
