Jack Clarence Willis was born in Haberfield, New South Wales, Australia on 26 Sep 1917. He was the son of Clarence Henry and Isobella Louise Willis. [1]

WILLIS, JACK CLARENCE served with the Australian Army; Service Number: NX153692 (N83830); attached to the 2/2 AUSTRALIAN PIONEER BATTALION attaining the rank of Sergeant. WILLIS, JACK CLARENCE enlisted on Monday, 26 April 1943 at HABERFIELD, NSW and was released from service on Tuesday, 27 November 1945. [2] [3]

Jack married Ruby Amelia Birtles on Saturday, 2nd March 1946 at St John the Baptist Church of England, Mudgee, New South Wales, Australia. [4] [5]

  5. WEDDING. Willis — Birtles Miss Ruby Birtles, late of the A.A.M.W.S., was married at St. John's Church of England, Ashfield, on March 2, to Mr. J. C. Willis (late A.I.F.). The bride is the youngest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. F. L. Birtles, of "Lone Pine," Meroo, Mudgee. She wore a charming old world frock with a beautiful veil of Brussels lace, and carried a shower spray of frangipanni, tuberose and white roses. The bride was attended by her sister, Miss Marjorie Birtles, who wore a royal blue frock and sequin beanie. Her spray was of red roses. The bridegroom is the eldest son of Mr. and Mrs. C. H. Willis, of Walker Avenue, Haberfield, and his brother, L.A.C. K. Willis, R.A.A.F., who recently returned from Borneo, carried out the duties of best man. The bride was given away by her father and, after the ceremony, a reception was held at Haberfield. Katoomba was selected for their honeymoon.
