Adeline was born in Virginia in about 1834 to Hardin and Miriam Chitwood Willis. She is listed with her parents and five siblings on the 1850 Census[1] in Franklin, Virginia. On August 16, 1858 she married William Adkins.[2] It is unknown (at this time) if Adeline and William were divorced or if he passed away but by the time of the 1860 Census she is listed in the home of her mother with four of her siblings as Adeline Adkins[3] and on the 1870 Census she is listed with her mother as Adeline Willis.[4] It is believed that she may have passed away in 1870 but a source is needed to confirm this information.
