I'll add one thing more: There were a LOT of Caleb Willis's around this time, and I notice a different Caleb Willis who was born in Carteret County, N.C. in 1777, who shows up in the 1870 Census, still in Carteret County. If the descendants were in N.C., this might be your person. There's a marriage record as well, to Mary Hancock in the North Carolina Marriage Bonds, 1741-1868 for Sep 3, 1806
Have a look at Willis-10717 to see if you think it is the same person. There is confusion about some of the family relationships, but there is also good documentation of Caleb Jr. and his father Caleb Sr. (A will, the census, and a grave marker in Sumner County, Tennessee.)
