Notes
The Willis Family is recorded at Mount Pleasant, a town on the Hudson about 2 miles south of present-day Ossining (old Sing Sing). The 1790 Census at Mt. Pleasant has:
John WIllis, head of house & 3 other males & 3 other females.
This is possibly a brother - research needed.
David Merritt, head of house, & 1 other female
James Merritt, head of house, &2 other males & 4 other females
The same 1790 Census has
James Willis, New Rochelle, NY
Joseph Willis, Stephen, NY
NOTE: One possible father who has a record now in Wikitree is John Willis (1726-1813), but NOTHING is sourced or proven.
