The 1897 Montgomery Country, Kentucky school census listed the George Willoughby family in district 30: Grover 12; Ison 9; Tandy 7.[6]

He was 39 (May 1861) born in Kentucky, married 16 years, working as a farm laborer and can read and write. His wife Emma was 39 (Mar 1861) born in Kentucky, had 8 children with 8 living and can read and write. The others in the home were children: Grover C 13 (Sep 1886); Isom 12 (Dec 1887); Tandy T 8 (Jun 1891); Edward H 7 (Aug 1892); Mary A 5 (Nov 1894); Gippy A 2 (Mar 1898); Andrew 1 month (Apr 1900); Anderson 1 month (Apr 1900). Also in the home was servant Lucy Weathers 25 and her daughter Nellie M 1.[7]
