John Mason Willoughby was born 28 Jun 1844 in Bath County,[1] Kentucky, United States. He is the son of Benjamin Willoughby and Mary Wymore. [2] He was 5 feet 10 inches tall, fair complexion, blue eyes and auburn hair.[3]

  • In 1850 John Willoby was living in Montgomery County, Kentucky, United States with his family. He was 8 years old. His father Benjamin Willoby was 38 working as a farmer, cannot read or write. His mother Mary was 38 born in Kentucky and can read and write. The others in the home are siblings; William R 14, Nickson R 14, Napoleon B 11, Margaret A 11, Susan 10, Elizabeth 6, James 5, Benjamin 10 months.[4]

John M Willoughby was attended by J. D. Banta 1 Mar 1927. He died 2 Mar 1927 at 218 Cox Street, Kentucky, United States at the age of 82 years, 8 months and 2 days. The cause of death was Cerebral Hemorrhage.[11] [12]

His funeral was in the West End Baptist Church, Lexington, Fayette County, Kentucky, United States by Rev. Walter Walker. [13] He is buried 4 Mar 1927 in the Lexington National Cemetery, Lexington, Fayette County, Kentucky, United States. [2]Find a Grave lists the death date as 4 Mar but that is the burial date according to the death certificate.

Lou Willoughby is listed as the widow of John M Willoughby, living at 218 Cox Street, Lexington, Fayette County, Kentucky, United States in the 1927 city directory. [14]

Research Notes

1896 he married Lou, 1900 wife is named Annie, 1910 wife named Lou, 1920 wife named Sallie, 1927 Lou listed as widow at the same residence he died at in Lexington. I think this is the same woman who went by many nicknames.
