Biography

Joseph was born in 1692. He is the son of Jeremiah Wilson and Hannah Beaman. He passed away in 1742.

The father and mother of Joseph Wilson is determined from the notice entered in the New England Register as follows: Mrs. Charles Francis Wetherell of Dorchester elected a resident member 31 JAN 1922 and made a life member 12 DEC 1928 was born at Cambridge VT 5 SEP 1862 the daughter of Daniel Andrew and Felicia Hemas. She claimed descent from Benjamin Wilson a resident of Charlestown as early as 1665, through Jeremiah Willson 1665-1743 of Lancaster, MA, Joseph Willson, who married Rebecca Phelps of Lancaster and Solomon Wilson of Chester VT.[1]

According to “The Early Records of Lancaster, Massachusetts. 1643-1725” 1717: Joseph Wilson is on a list of men who killed Indians. His name is in italics indicating he was from Lancaster. It seems like he received land in Petersham in payment for his service fighting indians. Joseph Wilson was on Joseph Blanchards Muster Roll AUG to OCT 1725. [2]

Joseph Wilson & Rebekah Phelps both of Lancaster was married by ye Reverend Mr John Prentice ye 21 day of September 1726.[3]

Sometime after their marriage Joseph & Rebekah moved to the town of Nichewaug (changed to Petersham in 1754). The town was a grant to certain soldiers as a reward for their service in the Indian wars.

The births their children are recorded in Petersham vital records. The page with these entries is torn and most of the dates are missing. I have spaced the births 2 yrs. apart just to get a date entered.[4]

DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with Joseph by comparing test results with other carriers of his Y-chromosome or his mother's mitochondrial DNA. However, there are no known yDNA or mtDNA test-takers in his direct paternal or maternal line. It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with Joseph:

Wilson-23971 and Willson-1455 appear to represent the same person because: Even though the last name has a different spelling, I believe they are the same person. My evidence for Joseph is: NE Register Vol 89/180
