Shirley grew up in Austin, Texas. She died in Austin on June 30, 2015 after a bout with cancer.
She went to school at L.C. Anderson High, and McCallum High(S) and graduated in 1974. Then attended Austin Community College where she studied Accounting.
Shirley worked at Brackenridge Hospital as a Supervisor of Outpatient Billing, Cashiers Dept, Outpatient Clinic and Emergency Room Billing for 15, years, then I worked for the City Electric Dept, preparing customers bills for the usage of Electric consumption. For 6 years, then I went on to work for CCMS with the City of Austin, Providing Funds For Child care for Children of young parents, so they could continue their education, or employment.
Singing, decorating, shopping, cooking and having family gatherings, and going to Church, and spending time with my Husband, and Daughter is my greatest treasure.
This family was recently blessed with two additional little persons, my great niece Maliyah, and great Nephew Elias, what a blessing they are, I have the pleasure of taking care of them on a regular basic. Family is very important to me, and all my family that really knows me, knows that about me, there's nothing I wouldn't do for you if I can.
As, a child I remember my parents the most on weekends, my Dad, would take us to the Kiddie Movies on Saturday mornings downtown, he would load up that old station wagon chevy, with us and all the neigborhood children and off we would go. And, during the summer months Mama would, load that station wagon with us and all the other children and off to the swimming pool we would. Seems, we were the only one with a car during that time.
But, early Sunday mornings before we went off to Church, Mama and Daddy would make breakfast for us it was so good smelling bacon cooking, and pancakes, coming out of the kitchen, with fresh coffee brewing.
Shirley passed due to cancer. Her funeral service is scheduled for July 11, 2015.
