Sarah (Sally) Wilson was born on October 22, 1807, in Adair County, Kentucky.[1][2] She was the daughter of Josiah Wilson and Margaret Crow (and the twin of Elizabeth).
According to a family history, Sally moved with her father, brother John, and twin sister Elizabeth to Lincoln County, Missouri, after the death of her mother, and 3-4 years later, on to Sevier County, Arkansas.[3]
At the age of 18, Sally married John Miller on November 24, 1825, in Webster Parish, Louisiana, when he was 25.[2] They had 13 children - Melton Wilson, Telitha, Simon Burton, Austin, Morris, Michael, Josiah Wilson, Elizabeth, Catharine, Sarah A., George, James Madison, and Thomas Jefferson.
In 1840, John and Sally and numerous children lived in Claiborne Parish, Louisiana.[4] In 1850, the family farmed in Claiborne Parish, Louisiana, along with 20 slaves.[5][6][7][8]
John died in April 1858. In 1860, Sally headed a farming household with her four younger children, and 21 slaves, adjacent to several older sons and their families.[9][10][11] In 1870, she lived with her youngest son Thomas in Claiborne Parish, Louisiana.[12] In 1880, she resided with her son James and family in Webster Parish, Louisiana.[13]
Sally died on December 28, 1881, in Minden, Webster, Louisiana, when she was 74.[1] She was buried at Mount Zion Cemetery in Webster Parish, Louisiana.[1]
