Biography

He is first noticed in Ferguson's work[1] in the Marriage Register of the Scots Brigade when he appears in a contract of marriage, 2 October 1733 at Bosch, likely the small hamlet, 's-Hertogenbosch, in North Brabant and close by the Unit lines at Venlo, between himself, stated to be a soldier of Captain Donald Mackay's company, and Pitternella Burgers. They were married on 30 October 1733. The witnesses were Alexander Sutherland and John MacDonald, soldier of Captain Erskine's company.
