William was the father of James Spottiswoode Wilson, and is named on his death record.[1]
William Wilson immigrated to South Australia from Newry, Co. Down, Ireland, on the Birman in 1840. He arrived with his wife, Charlotte (born Spottiswood) and 7 children. [2]
William and wife Charlotte, Sarah, Margaret and Eliza arrived on 7 Dec 1840 from Greenock via Cork on 'Birman'. William's sister, Sarah, is believed to be the wife of Richard Blackham, arriving on Birman with their three children. There are no Spotswoods (or name variants) on Birman[3]
