Research Notes
There was a birth registration filed for William in both Manitoba and in Ontario. The Ontario document is dated for 1937 and is signed by his older brother Andrew Elswood, swearing that William was born in Keewatin (now part of Kenora). The other document says Brandon, Manitoba there is no registration date provided in the online MB vital stats index.
