Biography

Mary was born in Aughton, Yorkshire, England, and baptised there in 1811. She was the daughter of Thomas Wilson and Jane.^[1]

Mary married John Hewson in Aughton in 1832.^[2] John worked as an agricultural labourer. In 1851^[3] and 1861 the family lived in Aughton with John's mother.^[4][5]

By 1881 John and Mary lived in Ellerton, Yorkshire, with their son James, son-in-law Charles Hawkin and grandson George Hawkin.^[6] Their daughter and Charles' wife, Annie, had died the previous year.^[7] John died later that year at the age of 76^[8] and was buried in Aughton.^[9]
