Biography

Thomas was born in 1892. He was the son of Benjamin Wilson and Mary Bayne.

Thomas' mother died in 1898. By 1900, he and his sister, Inez, were living with their maternal aunts, Bettie and Nora Bayne, in Lawrence, Douglas, Kansas.[1]

Thomas registered for the WWI draft in June, 1917 in Los Angeles County, California. He was single with no dependents, and working as a traveling auditor for the Southern Pacific Railroad Company at the time. He claimed exemption from the draft as he was a member of the 12th Naval Reserve. His physical description was listed as Caucasian, tall, with medium build, gray eyes and black hair.[2]

By 1930, Thomas and wife, Chloe, his sons, and father, were living in San Francisco, San Francisco County, California.[3] The household included:

Thomas sailed from Shanghai, China to San Francisco, California in 1937, aboard the USS President Hoover.[4]

He passed away in 1963 in Monterey, California.[5] Burial was in the Arlington National Cemetery, Arlington, Arlington County, Virginia.[6] His tombstone states Thomas was a Brigadier General in the US Army, He served in World War I and II.[7]
