Biography

Manola was born May 4, 1913 in Geneva County, Alabama, United States.[1] She is the daughter of Walter Wilson and Louisa (Hall) Wilson.

In 1920, six year old Manola (shown as Manala) lived in Marl, Geneva, Alabama, United States with her father Walter (age 40), mother Lula (age 40), and siblings Pearl (shown as Pearlie, age 17), Bertha (age 15), Marvy (shown as Marvie D, age 13), Ivey (shown as Ivy B, age 12), Vera Lee (age 10), Walter V (age 8), , age 6), and Glenn (age 1). Her paternal grandfather Juan Wilson (age 67) also lived with the family. Her father was a farmer and owned his own farm and Pearl, Bertha, Marvie, and Ivy were farm help.[2]

In 1930, seventeen year old Manola (shown as May) lived on Samson-Geneva road in Marl, Geneva, Alabama, United States with her father Walter (age 50), mother Lula (age 50), and siblings Walter (age 19), Glenn (age 11), Bonnie (age 9), and Inez (age 7). Louis Jones (age 24) was a boarder in the household. Walter was a farmer, his son Walter was a laborer who did wood cutting, and Louis was a farm laborer.[3]

Manola married William G "Grady" Smith March 2, 1938 in Alabama City, Etowah, Alabama, United States[4]

Manola (shown as Fannie) died August 6, 1940 in Samson, Geneva, Alabama, United States[5] and was buried in the Eden Cemetery in Geneva County, Alabama, United States.[6]
