Researching father and mother of Daniel Wilson 1800-1860, Lee County or Montgomery County, Virginia. Daniel may have served in the American Civil War for three years concluding in 1834. He married Margaret Louisa Gearhart in 1821. There are two possibilities for parentage of Daniel. William R. Wilson/Nancy Banks and William W. Wilson/Ursula Clark. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hello Ronald,

Congratulations on certifying to work on pre-1700 profiles! It’s very important to read and understand the Help:Pre-1700 Profiles page. These profiles for deep ancestors are shared by many, and collaborating on them works best if we all follow the guidelines in the certification quiz.

Primary sources should always be added to pre-1700 profiles at the time they are created. If you don't have a source for a pre-1700 profile, it would be best to ask for help in the G2G forum before creating the profile.

Ron:

I have to admit that I have not been that aggressive in pursuing my paternal/ maternal ancestry as I have been my paternal surname ancestry. The question seems to be is Mary Flora (Wilson) Bailey (1740 - 1808), my 4th Great grandmother the daughter of Thomas Wilson (1710 - 1776). Abigail (Whittemore) Wilson (1718). I think Thomas was linked to my ancestry by a So many Degrees from Featured Connection on the Wiki Family tree Activity Feed. I apparently linked his wife, Abigail. There is significant documentation that I am related to Mary Flora (Wilson) Bailey (1740 - 1808), wife of Richard Bailey (abt. 1735 - 1811) History of Centre & Clinton Counties John Blair & Louis H. Eveils, Ancestry. Com, Daughters of The American Revolution, Family history compiled by Laura Gregory, Bailey family history, typed manuscript] in the possession of Ron Green. Plus Mary died in Baileyville, Centre County, a town my family founded and is buried in the family plot in Grey’s Cemetery. However, I have no problem if you wish to remove or have me remove Thomas Wilson and Abigail Whittemore pending further documentation. Thank You for contacting me on this issue. LWB

It's all good Lawrence. There's a lot of way smarter people out there when it comes to geneology than me. If it can be proven with records and DNA ( between you and me or a close paternal relative), I'm super good with it. Then I can move on to researching John Wilson/Hannah James (Fuller) in England. Have you compared yours and my DNA markers on Gedcom or somewhere else? I do distant match a number of Baileys on Ancestry. Please let me know. Much appreciated, Ron
