Biography

James Wilson (or Willson) was born 18 Nov 1764 in Plainfield, Connecticut and[1]his Plainfield, Connecticut birth record [2]gives the names of his parents as John and Mary.

That same source lists John and Mary directly adjacent to James as parents of Jacob (Jan. 14, 1754) and Isaac (Feb. 17 1752). Jacob and Isaac are likely James' older and younger brothers.

James served in the Revolutionary War as a private in New Hampshire. See Jonathan Chase papers 1775-1797 - Digital Collections https://quod.lib.umich.edu/c/clementsead/umich-wcl-M-1095cha;view=text

He applied for a pension but it was rejected for length of service.

DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with James by comparing test results with other carriers of his Y-chromosome or his mother's mitochondrial DNA. However, there are no known yDNA or mtDNA test-takers in his direct paternal or maternal line. It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with James:

I fear that James here and his brother John II are being conflated in some respects. For example, I believe Ruth Joy was married to John, and the children listed above under "Children with Ruth Joy" are usually considered to be John's children (thus, John III, who was born when James was only 12).

Do you think you can separate them? Sounds like you're better qualified and more informed than I am.
At the moment I don't have access to sufficient sources to pull it off. I'm working on it, but it's a long-term project.

Wilson-28618 and Wilson-93888 appear to represent the same person because: Same parents, birthdate. Wilson-28618 has few sources and no descendants and Wilson-93888 has a lot.
