Isaac Jackson Wimberley was born on January 15, 1856, in Blanco, Texas, his father, Pleasant, was 32 and his mother, Amanda, was 24. He married Texana Belle Mayes on January 16, 1878, in Wimberley, Texas. They had 14 children in 27 years. He died on August 24, 1954, in Llano, Texas, at the age of 98, and was buried there.

Isaac Jackson Wimberley was born on January 15, 1856, either in Burleson or, more probably, Blanco County, Texas. He was the fourth child of Pleasant Wimberley and Amanda Jackson Wimberley. In 1873, when Isaac was 17, Pleasant and Amanda bought the Winters' Milll in Hays County, Texas, and moved their family there. Eventually, the community became known as Wimberley, Texas, rather than Winters' Mill.

Texana Bell Mayes, Isaac's future wife, was sent by her parents to live with the Pleasant Wimberley family because, as the story is told, she would be safer from Indian attack. When she was 15, Texana was named the "Prettiest Girl in Wimberley." Isaac and Texana married on January 16, 1878, when he was 22 and she was almost 16. The marriage took place in the home of Pleasant and Amanda Wimberley in what is now referred to as the Winters-Wimberley House.

Isaac supported his growing family as an Indian scout, a cattle raiser, a cattle driver--he drove cattle up the Chisholm Trail three times--and a farmer. The couple moved from Hays County to Llano County (cattle raiser in 1880 Census) to Uvalde County (birth place of older children) to Blanco County (birth place of at least two children) to Hays County (farmer in 1900 Census) to Llano County (farmer in 1910 Census) to Runnels County (farmer in 1920 Census) to Llano County (farmer in 1930 Census). It was in Llano County that the couple put down roots; they lived and farmed there the rest of their lives. Their children were Amanda, George P., Sariah, Zachariah T., Bettie, Joel, John, Charley, Richard, Frank, William "Willie" James, Andrew J., Hattie, and Quinnie M.

Texana died at the age of 85 on April 12, 1947, just three months after the death of her 64-year-old daughter Sariah Wimberley. Texana was buried in the same plot as Sariah in Llano City Cemetery.

Isaac Jackson Wimberley died at the age of 98 on August 24, 1954, in Llano, Llano County, Texas. He was laid to rest beside his wife Texana and his daughter Sariah in Llano City Cemetery. His obituary referred to him as "the oldest man in Llano." Homer Rogers, a Jehovah's Witnesses minister, officiated at his burial. At the time of his death, Isaac was survived by 192 descendants. He was survived by daughters Bettie Hardwick of Austin, Hattie Stoval of Llano, and Quinnie Owens of Llano. He was also survived by sons George of Uvalde, Texas; Zachariah of Llano, Texas; and Joel, John, Richard, Frank, and Andrew--all five of California. He was also survived by one sister Eliza "Lidie" Mary Hughes of Wimberley, Texas. In addition to his wife, parents, and nine of his siblings, Isaac was predeceased by daughters Amanda and Sariah and sons Charley and Willie.

1. Amanda Wimberley was born 1879. Her name last appeared on the 1880 Census in Texas. Amanda is not listed as a survivor on her father's 1954 obituary.

2. Joel Wimberley was born 3/24/1886 in Texas and died 7/10/1963 in Los Angeles County, CA.

3. Charley Wimberley, born 1890, probably died before the 1900 Census in Texas. Charley was not listed as a survivor on his father's 1954 obituary.
