Mary Winder was born in Over Wyersdale, Lancashire, England.

Mary was born in 1886.^[1] She is the daughter of David Winder and Margaret (Parrington) Winder.

In 1891 5 year old Mary Grace has accompanied her mother on a visit to the farm of her maternal Grandmother and Grand step-father.^[2]

Research Notes

There are two big issues with the Family Search transcriptions of this family on the 1891 Census causing the need for up to three 1891 Census links as sources, dependent upon the profile. (Ancestry and Find My Past transcriptions are fine.)

1. In 1891, Margaret (Parrington) Winder and daughter Mary Grace Winder are out of the home visiting the childrens maternal grandmother. (This is not an issue. It is just a fact which may be the cause of the transcription and/or programming errors since the Head's Wife is out of the home.)

2. In 1891, David Winder and the remaining children are at home on the farm. They are enumerated on two sheets: Head David and the children Annie, John and David are on the bottom of one sheet. First Transcription Error: Annie, 13 years old, has been erroneously transcribed as the Wife.

3. In 1891 on the second sheet is the Second Transcription Error: at the top of the page, Margaret (7 years old) is not 'linked' as "child to previous Head" thus is being treated programming-wise as the Head of the family which consists of her siblings Elizabeth Winder 3 years old and Ada Winder 10 months old, even though she is not enumerated as the Head. All searches for her in 1891 in conjunction with data for her parents results in other unrelated families.

This is not my family. I am helping clean up profiles as part of the England Project Orphan Trail, Part 1 and will likely not return to see if Family Search has fixed the transcription errors. If you are related to this family you may want to see if the errors have been fixed so that these particular research notes and the extra 1891 census source links in some of these profiles can be removed. I am putting this research note on the profiles of David, wife Margaret and ALL of their ten children, even those not born before 1891. If Family Search ever fixes the transcription, the 1891 Census source links will need to be cleaned up. It will obviously depend upon each Profile. Williams-101129 14:42, 12 April 2022 (UTC)
