Biography

Amanda was born in 1853. She was the daughter of David Smyth Wine and Elizabeth C. Conrad Wine. She passed away in 1930.

Amanda married Thomas Conley on March 17, 1877, in Braxton County, West Virginia.

• Thomas Conley was born about 1853 in Preston County, Virginia (WV). He was the son of Thomas Conley (an immigrant from Ireland) and _____________________. Although his grave marker lists his birth as 1848. All of his available records indicate 1853.

Amanda's husband, Thomas Conley, died in 1908, presumably in Braxton County, West Virginia, USA. He was buried in the Long Run Cemetery, in Napier, Braxton County, West Virginia, USA.

According to the 1920 US Census, Amanda Conley (head of household, age 66, widowed, farmer) lived in Salt Lick, Braxton County, West Virginia. She lived with her sons, Michael (30 years old), Roy D. (32 years old), and Peter C. (24 years old). She lived next door to the household of her brother, William M. Wine (head of household, age 56, single). Also ling in William's household were his niece, Effie Ratliff (age 28, single), and her children. Effie was the daughter of Arminta Wine, Amanda's and William's sister. It is not known for certain, but William and Effie may have been unofficially living together as husband and wife.
