Biography

Catherine (Wine) Steele Bowman was the third wife of Jacob Bowman. When Catherine gave birth to their daughter Frances Bowman in 1787 she was over forty and had already had nine children by her first husband, Christopher Steele. "After Jacob Bowman's death in 1803, widow Catherine was remarried on May 22, 1804, to Christian Frye, the minister being her step-son Benjamin Bowman." Catherine Frye died in 1814.^[1]

NOTE: Additional research is needed, sources/documentation to demonstrate both these marriages are valid. It is known that a Catherine Wine married a Christopher Stihl/Stihli, but documentation needs to be found for the Bowman relationship.
