Biography

George was born in 1838.^[1] He was the son of Thomas Elias and Ann nee Farnsworth. George was shot by poachers at the property where he was a gameskeeper.^[2] Newspaper article states he was about to marry at the time (likely to Selina Morris).^[3]

Research notes

My working theory is that George is the father of Georgina Winfield Morris https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Morris-17954. She was born in May 1858 five months after George's death. She was born out of wedlock. I have a 88cm DNA match with a descendent of George's brother Joseph and a number of other matches to Winfield's from Stanton by Dale where George's father was born. Annesley is 4 miles from Kirkby by Ashfield where Selina, Georgina's mother, lived. Added by Cullen-643 15:29, 15 July 2019 (UTC)
