Joel Wing was born in Sep, 1820 in Rozelville, North Hill, Somerset, Maine, United States, son of Joel Wing (1796–<1823) and Martha Browning (1800–1884).
Joel married Margaret Bunker. Their known children were:

- Helen Wing (1848– )
- Ellen Wing (1854– )
- Eva Wing (1854– )
Joel (39) married Elizabeth Paige (17) in 1860. Their known children were:
- John Bradley Wing (1864–1936)

Joel died in Feb, 1879, aged 58. He was buried in Brighton Village Cemetery, Brighton, Maine.
