David was in great hip pain for 18 months before he died at the age of 51.
David was an apprentice for tanning under his uncle Jonathan Hart. He then moved to North Hoosick, N.Y. where he ran a tanning business. A flood soon after he moved there destroyed almost everything. He ended up in White Creek by 1820, along with other family members, farming there.
Census 1810: there were 2 men named David Wing living in Hoosick Falls, Renselaer, NY; one left while the other died (his son is listed in the next few censuses there).
Census 1820, 1830: Living in White Creek, Washington, NY. 8 people in the household in 1820; in 1830, of males 1 each between 40-45, 15-20, 5-10; 0-5; females 1 30-40, 1 15-20, 3 5-10, 1 under 5.
The family remained living in White Creek, Sarah being the head of the family. 1850 census: Sarah, 59; Merrit F, 19; Sarah J, 17; Juliette, 14. Merritt did the farming. Value of real estate: $2000. Their son Osborne, age 39, lived on the farm next door with his wife Abigail and children Agnes, 2, and John, 9 months; value of real estate: $3500.
