Francis Winn was born in Gargrave, Yorkshire, England.

Francis Winn, child of Thomas Winn & Tabitha Walker, Francis Winn was born on January 27, 1792 ^[1] and was baptised on February 26, 1792, in Gargrave, Yorkshire, England.^[2]

When Francis was 25 years old he married Sarah Petrie (age 22, daughter of Robert Petrie). They were married following banns by Thomas Steele on March 20, 1817 at St. Chads, Rochdale, Lancashire. They both signed their full names and D. Wield and John Petrie were witnesses to the marriage.^[3] Together they had 11 children:

During the 1841 England census Francis (age 49) was living with his wife and 5 sons at White Hall Street in Rochdale, Lancashire, England. He was an Engineer, one son was an apprentice mechanic and two sons were iron moulders.^[14]

After Sarah's death in 1841 ^[16] Francis married Jean Lorimer from Garden Street, Bury. He was a widower and engineer who lived at Whitehall Street in Rochdale. She was the daughter of William Lorimer, farmer, a spinster and 40 years old. They were married by Minister David Merritt at Providence Chapel High Street in Rochdale, Lancashire, England on August 27, 1845. They both signed their full names. John Lorimer, William Logan, Andrew Lorimer and James Lorimer were witnesses to the marriage. Thomas Spencer was the Registrar.^{[17] [18]}

In the 1851 census Francis (age 59) was the head of household on South Street in Rochdale, Wardleworth, Lancashire, England.^[19]

Francis Winn (age 64) died on 24 December 1856 at Rochdale, Lancashire, England.^[20]

The family tree on Family Search has a son Francis but the surname in the source citations is Wenn. There are no source images available to check if this is a transcription error.
