Biography

William Otis Winn was born on 20 Aug 1874 in Madison County, Indiana^[1] as the son of Martha Ella (Payne) Winn (abt.1851-abt.1913)^[2] and James Winn (1849-1916).^[3]

In 1880 he was age 6 and living in Summitville, Madison, IN with his parents, James (31) and Martha E (28) and 2 siblings - Louis E Winn (10) and Earnest S Winn (4). His father was working as a laborer.^[4]

He married Laura Ellen (Ribelin) Winn (abt.1878-abt.1929) on 22 May 1894 in Fulton, Indiana.^[2][3]

First-born son, Virgil Emmet Winn (1895-1973), was born on 31 Oct 1895 in Grant County, IN^[5] and James Lafayette Winn (1899-1934) was born on 26 Nov 1899 in IN.^[6]

It appears that a total of five children were born to this union: Virgil Emmet Winn (1895-1973)^[7], Lula L Winn Sells.^[8],James Lafayette Winn (1899-1934), Celesta M Winn Hartman, and Oatis S Winn.^[9]

In 1920, Laura (41) and husband William O (45) were living on East Lake in Van Buren , Madison, Indiana with their 3 children - Celesta M (17), Lula L (22), and Oatis S (14). William was now working as a barber.^[8]

His wife, Laura Ellen (Ribelin) Winn (abt.1878-abt.1929), died on 6 Apr 1929 in DeLand, Florida.^[10]

William died on 20 Feb 1941^[1] in Anderson, Madison, IN^[3] and was buried at Vinson Memorial Park in Summitville, Madison, IN.^[11]
