William was born in 1893. He was the son of William Winn and Hannah Dolly. He passed away in 1940 and is buried in Calvary Cemetery and Mausoleum in Saint Louis, Missouri.
His obituary in the St. Louis Post-Dispatch (15 May 1940, p 21) read as follows:
DR. WILLIAM M. WINN FUNERAL TOMORROW
Services at New Cathedral for Surgeon Who Died of Heart Disease at 46.
The funeral of Dr. William Murray Winn, surgeon, who died of heart disease at Missouri Baptist Hospital yesterday, will be from the Donnelly mortuary, 3S40 Lindell boulevard, at 8:30 a. m. tomorrow, with services at the New Cathedral at 9 a. m. Burial arrangements have not been completed. Dr. Winn, who was 46 years old and resided at 4506 Maryland avenue, was ill about five weeks and in the hospital three days. He was born in Rock Island, IS., resided as a boy in Portland. Ore., and was graduated in medicine from the old National University of Arts and Sciences here in 191S. For a short time thereafter, he was in military service in the World War. He served as an interne in St. Anthony's and Missouri Baptist Hospitals. Later he was a Coroner's physician for a time. His office was at 462 North Taylor avenue.
Divorced in 1931 by Mrs. Pearl Moore Winn, who now resides in Beverly Hills. Cal.. he was married late in 1932 to Miss Lilian Duncan. who had been a specialty dancer in Broadway revues and a dancer in Municipal Opera here in 1930. Surviving, besides Mrs. Winn, are two daughters. Billie Rae, born of the first marriage, who is with her mother, and Patricia. 5; the doctor's mother Mrs. Hannah Winn of Pocatello Idaho, and a sister, Mrs. Marguerite Russner (sic) of Los Angeles.
