Biography

Thomas Winslow was born on January 8, 1745, in Perquimans, North Carolina, the son of Mary and John. He married Elizabeth Phelps on January 13, 1768. They had nine children. Thomas was a Quaker, slave owner, and participated in the American Revolution. He died on January 29, 1826, in Randolph, North Carolina, having lived a long life of 81 years.

Thomas married Elizabeth Phelps 03 Feb 1768, Perquimans MM, Perquimans, North Carolina, British Colonial America. They had the following children:

  3. Thomas Winslow b. 08 Jan 1775
  4. Mary Winslow b. 24 Nov 1776
  5. Benoni Winslow b. 25 Dec 1778
  6. Eleazor Winslow b. 11 March 1780
  7. Millicent Winslow b. 04 June 1782
  8. Mathew Winslow b. 27 Sept 1783
  9. Caroline Winslow b. 03 Feb 1788

Thomas was buried in the family burying ground near the house.

Slaves

1. Peter Andrew Winslow-3418

According to Thomas's will, his sons Henry Winslow-1005 and Eleazar were to have the care of the slave, Peter Andrew, to make sure his freedom is not disrupted and the title to land for Peter until he could be lawfully emancipated.

Peter Andrew/Winslow sold land and moved to Henry County, Indiana. There he purchased 80 acres from the government on 26 June 1827. In 1850 Peter Winslow was listed on the 1850 U.S. Census with Real Estate value of $3000. Joseph and Daniel Winslow lived in the next two households.

Thomas was born in 1745. He passed away in 1826.

Winslow-3981 and Winslow-1003 appear to represent the same person because: These profiles represent the same Thomas Winslow and should be merged. If there is no source for the uncertain middle name, that can always be removed and perhaps noted until a source is found, or not. Thanks.
