I have been researching my family history for over 30 years now. I am now a 78 year old codger. I have been looking for the Winslow connection to Plymouth Colony without success. My ancestry DNA indicates that I have black cousins originating in Africa. I would really like to know which one of my ancestors was a slave owner. I think I know. And maybe be able to help some of my black cousins find out where their slave ancestor originated in Africa. Don’t know if that’s possible. Nothing is impossible. But I love family history. And I especially love finding skeletons! I have found some wonderful skeletons in my closet - you know, little bastards etc.

One of the skeletons I’m looking for would be the illegitimate child of my great grandfather Daniel Alexander Perry, the Civil War s

Biography

I was born in Sibley Memorial Hospital in Washington DC on October 30, 1942. My father was manager of a Hot Shoppe owned by the Marriott brothers - Alfred and Willard. My mother worked as a waitress in the same Hot Shoppe. After several years my family moved from Washington DC, actually Hyattsville Maryland, to Troutman, North Carolina. Most of my life memories are from Troutman, North Carolina and growing up on a 250 acre dairy farm. Shoveling manure, feeding cows, chopping silage, making hay, and exploring the neighborhood woods. After graduating from high school I went to Wake Forest for a year. Tuition was too expensive for my family so I went to a community college for two years. I married and moved to Harrisonburg, VA. We had a son in Virginia, relocated back to North Carolina, had a son in North Carolina. I worked my way back to Troutman, North Carolina.

I work for General Dynamics Mission Systems in Information Technology. At the age of 78 - I still work full-time.

My hobbies include photography, backpacking, bicycle riding, collecting Indian artifacts, and collecting rocks and minerals, but my main hobby is tracing my family history storys.
