Mary Winslow was born in 1713 in Somerset County, Maryland. She died in 1748 in Anson County (became Mecklenburg County in 1762), North Carolina.[2] No primary sources have been found for her parents, only a derivative source that indicates Benjamin and Mary[3][4]

Mary Winslow was the first wife of Samuel Wilson, whom she married in 1731 in Somerset County, Maryland.

  1. Mary Jane Winslow "Maria" (Wilson) Polk (1746-1791), married LtCol Ezekiel Polk (1747-1824) in 1769[5]
  2. Violet Winslow (Wilson) Davidson (1742-1818), married John Davidson, Sr. in 1761 in Mecklenburg County[6]
  3. Samuel Wilson Jr. (1737 ?-1814), married Hannah Knox (1767-?)[7]
  4. Major David Wilson (1748-?), married Sally McConnel[8]
  5. Benjamin Wilson (1744-1800), did not marry according to Hunter (married Margaret Bowman in 1780 in Rowan County according to others sources)[9]
  6. John Wilson (?-?), did not marry according to Hunter[10]
  7. Rebecca Wilson (?-?), married John Henderson, both were killed by Indians on their way to Tennessee, their children returned to Mecklenburg County[11]

A copy of Benjamin WInslow's will is found at Find a Grave It names both John McConnell and Samuel Wilson as "sons".
