Household residents were Blake Winter, 27 and a brakeman for a railroad; his wife Ethel Winter, 25; daughter Martha M. Winter, 5; and Arthur E. Winter, 3. The 1930 U.S. Census recorded 23-year-old Arthur E. Winter in his parents' household in East Pennsboro Township, Cumberland County, Pennsylvania. He was single and worked as a clerk in a retail grocery. Household residents listed on the record were Blake E. Winter, 47 (married at age 21), a brakeman for a steam railroad; Ethel S. According to the marriage license application (filed 9 April 1942), Arthur was 35 years old, born in Duncannon, Pennsylvania, to parents Blake Winter (a railroader) and Ethel Graybill, who were living in Enola, Pennsylvania. He worked as a fireman and was living in Enola. Eleanor was 27 years old, born in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, to parents Harry Sierer and Vera Kocher, both deceased. Note: The document shows that the marriage license was issued on 13 April 1941; the year on that entry is clearly a mistake, as all other dates on the document and adjacent records are in 1942.
