Ninth child of James Washington Winters Sr. and Rhoda Creel Beall, hauled supplies to Texas army, went on the Somervell expedition, served Confederate States Army in 29th Brig. Rode with Big Foot Wallace and the Texas Rangers. Lived in Live Oak, McMullen, Caldwell and Frio counties. Lost a son during the Fence War. Just before his death at 90 years, he rode a saddle mule "back home" to Waverley from Big Foot Texas. Married Sylvania Adeline Cude. They had 13 children.[1]
