John Hinrich Wischhusen was born 16 Apr 1791 in Grasberg, Hannover, Germany (birth and baptism sources needed)


John Henry Wischhusen married Sarah Goodif Stewards in Christ Church, Stepney, London on 11 July 1813.[1]

On 24 July 1838 John married Elizabeth Baker at Christ Church Greyfriars Newgate, London. [2]

Life Story

On his son, Henry's wedding certificate he is described as a furrier.

In 1840, the Berkshire Chronicle reported a great fire in Bishopsgate where the extensive premises of J H Wischhusen, a skin dresser of Lamb Alley, Sun Street, Bishopsgate, London were destroyed by the fire including his immense stock of skins. [3]

The 1851 census shows him in St Botolph's parish of Bishopsgate, London. [4]


John died in Islington, London in 1865. [5]
