Biography

Robert was born to Basil Wise and Missouri Alice Hobbs^[1] in 1886 Savannah, Georgia.^[2][3]

He married Naomi Ivannah O'Steen (1895-1949), on January 1, 1907 in Savannah,Chatham County, Georgia. She was the daughter of James Alexander O'Steen Jr., Judge of Bryan, Effingham, and Chatham (Pooler) Counties.^[4]

After marriage, Robert and his family resided in his father's home, in Savannah, Chatham County, Georgia; and job transferred c1924 to Houston, Harris County, TX; c1926-27, Petersburg, Dinwiddie County, VA; and 1928-1939, in Williamsburgh District, Brooklyn, Kings County, New York.^[4]

Robert died August 31, 1939^[3][2] (of a stroke) in Williamsburgh, Brooklyn, Kings County, New York.^[5] His remains were returned to Savannah, Georgia and buried next to his Mother and grandmother in Aisle #17, Lot # 2521, Laurel Grove Cemetery on September 4, 1939.^[6] The grave was marked with a mortuary marker, i.e., painted white with a Roman Catholic Cross on it. Grandson John F. Wise (b.1936) had a granite gravestone placed on his grave in November, 1994.^[4]
