Biography
Private Granville Wise served in the United States Civil War. Enlisted: 24 Sep 1864 Mustered out: 30 Jun 1865 Side: USA Regiment(s): 9th Regiment, Maine Infantry
Granville was born in May 1837, in Sebec, Maine. His parents have yet to be discovered. There is an 1850 census record for Elliotsville, Maine[1] that shows a Wise family with a Granville the right age, but the last name doesn't match. More research is needed.
The first record for Granville is the 1860 census. He has married Adeline F. (Sturtevant) Wise (1834-1903) about 1858. In 1860, the family is living in Township 8 Range 8, Piscataquis, Maine.[2]

Granville served in the Civil War. He enlisted on 24 September 1864, and served in Company C of the 9th Regiment, Maine Infantry until he was honorably discharged on 30 June 1865.[3] Granville collected a pension for his military service.[4][5][6]
In 1870, the family is in Howard, Maine. Granville is a farmer.[7]
Granville is listed on the United States Census of Union Veterans and Widows of the Civil War, 1890 in Willimantic, Maine. [9]
By 1900, Granville and Addie are on their own in Willimantic, Maine.[10]
Granville's wife Adeline died at age 68 on 16 February 1903. In 1910, the widower Granville is living in Willimantic, Maine.[11] By 1920, the widower is living with his son Fred and his wife Alma in Willimantic, Maine.[12]
Granville died at age 83 on 26 January 1921, in Willimantic, Maine.[13][14][15] Granville is burid in the Riverside Cemetery in Willimantic, Maine.[16]
