Biography

Doris M. Johnson, 80, of Browns, died at 2:40 a.m. Thursday, August 28, 2008, at United Methodist Village in Lawrenceville after a long battle with Alzheimer's disease.

Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. Saturday at Ingram Funeral Home in Albion. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at Ingram Funeral Home. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery in Albion.

Mrs. Johnson was born August 19, 1928, in Browns, the daughter of Harry and Edna (Marriott) Wiseman. She married Herschel Johnson on May 13, 1948, and he survives.

She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother to her family. She loved to cook and help care for her grandchildren, as well as visiting people in nursing homes and throughout the community. She was a member of Fortney United Methodist Church, where she was very active, and a teacher in the country schools from 1946-1948, before her marriage. For many years she was an active participant in their equipment dealership. In the past she was an active Cub Scout, Brownie and 4-H leader, and she was also a member of the Home Bureau and Women's Society.

Mrs. Johnson is survived by her husband of 60 years, Herschel, of Browns; sons, Leon Johnson and his wife, Mary, of Albion, and Gary Johnson and his wife, Melinda, of DeProvence, France; daughters, Judy Greathouse and her husband, Tom, of West Salem, and Linda Snidle and her husband, Glenn, of Olney; 12 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; sister, Marilyn Fieber and her husband, Louie, of Grayville; and brothers, Ivan Wiseman and his wife, Lois, of Albion, and Allen Wiseman and his wife, Ruth, of Browns.
