David married Sarah (aka Sally) Abney in colonial Virginia around roughly 1770 (based on his age).[1]
.
The following children are named (in this order) in David's will of 1816[2]:
Dennet Witt (married Constance Oglesby) ("oldest son" in will).

On June 17, 1809, the lands of David's brother, Littleberry Witt, Sr. (deceased), were purchased by David's son, David Witt, Jr.; David stood security for his son for this land purchase (copy attached in Images). The sale was to be finalized 17 Dec 1810 in the amount of 90 pounds. This land adjoined David's own land, as recorded in a chancery case regarding the land; the other sides were bounded by Joseph Roberts and William Wood.[3]
Death
David Witt, Sr. signed his will on 18 January 1816 in Nelson County, Virginia. His will names his children, including spouses of married daughters. David died on or before Sept 1818 because his will was proved in Nelson County on 28 September 1818 by Josiah and Nathaniel Bridgewater. (See images.) DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with David by comparing test results with other carriers of his Y-chromosome or his mother's mitochondrial DNA.
Y-chromosome DNA test-takers in his direct paternal line on WikiTree:
There's no evidence that David Witt and Sarah Abney had a daughter Elizabeth. I will disconnect profiles. Duplicates for David, Sarah and her father Dennett have been created. I will propose merges for them and any other duplicates.
Kerry, yes, Robert W. Witt book (pg. 19) has David (d. 1818, married Sarah Abney) as son of John & Lucy. Wayne Witt Bates research was same conclusion. My line is through his brother Littleberry. I have the David F. Whitt book if you have other questions, too.
Pending discussion, I have attached David as the son of John Witt-534 and Lucy Littlebury-3. The description of his will in Witt-534's profile suggests a son named David. The DAR application of the David Witt who died in Nelson County in 1818, lists a residence of Amherst, the death location of John. There is also DNA evidence that a descendant of this David Witt is linked to John Witt's family/ancestors.
