Biography

Edmund Whitt, Jr. is thought to have been the son of Edmund Witt Sr.and Ann (Unknown). Further research is needed to firmly establish this relationship per David F. Whitt (2004, page 58). Edmund is estimated to have been born about 1780 presuming he was about 25 years old at time of his marriage in 1806.

There appears to be no record of Edmund's death, but it was before 1850 based on his apparent absence from the 1850 census. The family was in Campbell County, Tennessee, in the 1840 census, so it's possible he died there^[1].

Marriage and Children

Edmund Jr. married Sarah Cook 1 March 1806 in Stokes County, North Carolina^[2]. The following children have been attributed to them, but need additional evidence (also see Research Notes)^[3]:

5. Edmund Witt III (1825-1864) (married Lucinda Loy 3 Nov 1844).

3. Wiley Whitt (1828-) (Removed as son until sources are provided).

Research Notes

Edmund's death year/place requires more research. It was also reported as 1850 in Carter Co., KY in Witt-720.

Two daughters are also attributed to Edmund Witt and Sarah Cook in HalcyonDays.com; however, Sarah Cook would have been well over 50 years of age at the time of their births, so they are not included above. They are: Catherine born about 1847 and Sarah born about 1849.
