Nelson Witt was born on December 27, 1802 [1], in Madison County, Kentucky (often stated as Estill County, but it was formed from Madison County in 1808). He was the son of William Witt and Mildred Baber. He passed away on 13 August 1863 in Buchanan County, Missouri, and is buried in Witt Cemetery, Gower, Buchanan County, Missouri.[2] Dates are according to cemetery transcription from 17 August 1968 (no stone remains).
Nelson was a judge in Buchanan County and offered land where one of the first churches was built by the Calvanistic Baptists in Platte Township. It was known as the "Witt Meeting House."[3]

There is also another male age 40-49 (born 1791-1800), perhaps a brother of Nelson or Catherine.
