Elizabeth was born in Pennsylvania in 1815, the daughter of John Jacob and Maria Magdalena (Benner) Wittenmeyer. She was the first wife of Nelson Copus. She had 6 children with him. She died in 1860 and is buried in North Baltimore with her husband, Nelson.
