Obituary for Lois Katherine Wolf Pitsnogle
Lois Katherine Pitsnogle
VERMILION - Lois Katherine Pitsnogle (nee Wolf), 95, of Vermilion, died Monday, March 24, 2014 at Kingston of Vermilion after a lengthy illness.
She was born June 7, 1918 in Hagerstown, MD, and graduated from High School in 1936.
She received her nurses training in Baltimore, MD and graduated from the Columbia Business College, Hagerstown.
She attended night classes and taught under privileged children during the day (during the depression years).
She and her family moved to Vermilion in 1953.
Lois worked as a nurse for the former St. Joseph Hospital, Lorain for 7 years, then as a medical assistant in Dr. Etzkorn's office for 18 years. After her retirement she took care of invalids, shut-ins, and neighbors in their homes.
She was a member of the Vermilion Evangelical and Reformed Church, the Christian Board of Education, and attended Women's Bible Study.
She enjoyed going to the movies, being involved with the church, and lived to take care of people, especially with her in home health care.
She is survived by her grandchildren: Anita Brown, Cindy Hoverton, Paul Pitsnogle, James Pitsnogle, Richard Pitsnogle, and Michael Pitsnogle; and 12 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert A. Pitsnogle in 1996, sons, Robert Pitsnogle in 2002, and Terry Pitsnogle in 2011; parents, John Ruskin and Fanny Genevieve (nee Barkdoll) Wolf; and a sister, Dorothy Smallwood.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, March 29, 2014 from 4-7 pm at the Riddle Funeral Home, 5345 South Street Vermilion OH. Funeral services will be Sunday, March 30, 2014 at 1:00 pm at the Vermilion E&R Church, 752 Grand St., Vermilion. The Reverend Nick Cacciatore will officiate.
Interment will be in Maple Grove Cemetery, Vermilion.
Memorial contributions are suggested to the E&R Church, 752 Grand St., Vermilion, OH 44089.
