Biography

Children: Altje, Wolter, Hermen.

Wijcher had 2 of his son Hermen's children and 2 of his daughter Altjen's children baptized on Jan 10 1630. From what can be gathered, both his children married Mennonites and he wanted them to be Reformed.

Wijcher Wolter Coops was listed in the 1602 verponding twice in Swarte Cluft: once with his father Wolter Coops and once apart. There were also a Wijcher Wolter Bartholts living in Suijder Cluft and a Harmen, Volcken and Wijcher Jans Coops living in Noord Cluft. Considering names, the first Wijcher would be our man. This Wijcher Wolters owned 5 acres with Wijcher Jacobs, Roeloff Jans and Claes Timmer (probably all cousins) that they paid 9 guilders 4 stuivers in taxes on. Wijcher Wolter Coops owned another 1 1/2 acres elsewhere (it was common to own land not adjacent to each other) that he paid 1 guilder 8 stuivers on.
