Most of the photographs are unidentified, but I am hoping to find someone who might recognise them.
The Ayre's were mostly born in Ireland from about 1820 onwards and migrated to Scotland from about 1870 onwards. They lived in the Glasgow area and worked in the docks as labourers, riveters, boilermakers.
Some of the offspring emigrated to the USA.

I also have Yorkshire ancestors in Brightside Bierlow, Yorkshire, England and other local places.
I feel that there must be a connection to 'my' McNeilly's. My Great Grandfather is a Robert McNeilly from Fernisky, Ballymena, Antrim, Northern Ireland. Born in 1839, He was a farmer in Ferniskey, Conner, Antrim about 1861. Any idea who your Robert's father was?
What little I know of Robert (Dunlop) McNeilly suggests that he was born about 1810 and died in 1889 so this is not your Robert. The other Robert born in 1848 emigrated to the USA.
There may be a connection but I am having difficulty in researching Irish records as so many of them were destroyed (mainly by the government).
