Biography

Samuel Wonson was born at Gloucester about 1751, the son and eldest child of Samuel Wonson and Patience Norwood.[1]

Samuel married at Gloucester on 14 Mar 1773 Lois Gott.[2]

Samuel Wonson and his wife Lois Gott were reportedly the parents of eight children born at Gloucester, although several not found in the birth records.[3]

  2. Lois Wonson, bp. 26 Jun 1774; m. William Phipps.
  3. Charles Wonson, bp. 19 Nov 1775; d. 16 Mar 1870; m. Mary Douglass.
  4. Patience Wonson, bp. 20 Apr 1777; d. 4 Nov 1855 (death record calls her daughter of Samuel & Patience); m. Israel Martin.
  5. Lucy Fletcher Wonson, bp. 21 Feb 1779; prob. d. y.
  6. George Wonson, b. 18 Mar 1782.
  7. Lucy S Wonson, b. 30 Jul 1786; d. Haverhill 2 Sep 1870; never married; was living with Patience Martin in 1850 and 1855.
  8. John Wonson, b. ca 1780; . 31 Dec 1857; m. 1815 Joanna Coas.

After the death of Lois in 1790, Samuel married in 1793 to Anna (Lurvey) Chipman, the widow of Anthony Chipman. [4]

Samuel was buried at Gloucester 15 Aug 1829 aged 77 years.[5]
