Biography
Nehemiah ("King") WOOD (Jr.) (1770, Rileyville, Shenandoah [now Page] County, Virginia, British North America - 21 September 1824, Gallia County, Ohio: interment at Watson Cemetery [Adamsville], Raccoon Township, Gallia County, Ohio)
"As a point of added interest, Bethsama’s grandfather, Nehemiah Wood, built the farmhouse in 1820 that later became the homestead and farm of the Bob Evans family (owner of the restaurants) in Rio Grande, Ohio. The federal-style farmhouse was built from clay bricks manufactured on site. It served as the Wood family home and as a stage coach stop. Its original hotel license was issued to Harrison Wood in 1862 to “carry on the business and occupation of a hotel eighth class.” The Homestead and farm were purchased by Bob Evans in 1953. The Evans family lived there for 17 years and moved to a new home closer to Gallipolis, Ohio, in 1970."
